John Warnock
I started rowing at school in Cambridge in 1988, competing in traditional bumping races where eights start 1&1/2 lengths apart and the objective is to catch and hit (not too hard) the boat ahead. I rowed in the GB Junior Team in 1990, placing 7th in the pair, and was 5th in the Lightweight Doubles in 1991 at the U23 World Championships. I joined London Rowing Club in 1993 and rowed in an all LRC Lightweight Eight at the Commonwealth Games in 1994, winning gold.
I also reached the final of the Wyfold Challenge Cup in 1997 for LRC. My first year as a Senior International was 1998 where I placed 4th in the Lightweight 4s at the World Championships. I won in the GB LM4- at the World Student Games in 2000 and my last year as a senior international was 2004. I'm still rowing at LRC but have become increasingly distracted by cycling, both on the road and the track, however, I still regard crew rowing as the ultimate team sport! Phelan Hill

With Sci-MX I realised my dream by representing my country at the World University Games in Brive, France. Sci-MX has helped me to achieve my physical and mental goals by providing my body with the best nutrition available. Sci-MXs products support both my full recovery and maximise my strength and endurance training. I believe these products work, especially because in rowing, the sport relies heavily on both strength and endurance.
Alastair Main
"I started rowing at prep (junior) school aged 7, and continued throughout senior school, The Oratory, winning medals at the National Schools Regatta and attending Junior National team trials. I rowed at Henley Royal Regatta for the first time in 1997, aged 17 and made it through to the second round for the first time in 1998 in two different events. I continued rowing at the University of Nottingham, making the quarter finals at Henley in 2000.
Having moved to club rowing after university, I began training with elements of the British Lightweight team. We won the Jackson Trophy for fastest non-Tideway based crew at the Head of the River Race in both 2002 and 2003, finishing 8th with Nottingham and Union in 2003. In the same year I won gold at the National Championships in Coxed Fours and went on to successfully represent England at the Home Countries Regatta in both the four and eight. I joined London Rowing Club in 2004 and was part of the 2nd VIII that finished 14th at the Head of the River in 2005 and the Thames Cup 'A' crew which made the semi finals at Henley that year, losing to the eventual winners."
