Steve started his professional career at Leicestershire before moving to Yorkshire in 2001 after impressing for club side Bosworth. His 47 wickets that year proved an important factor in Yorkshire winning the County Championship. A golden year in 2003 saw Steve claim 67 first class wickets which gained him a place on an England A tour to India.
