Question
To lose fat I have to do lots of cardio, and when I do I lose so much muscle that I don’t look any better, in fact I probably look worse. Then I try to bulk up and get fat again. This has happened for the last five years. How do I lose fat without losing the muscle I built up on my arms and chest? Thank you. Mike.
Answer
Hi Mike, Muscle catabolism is inevitable when doing lots of cardio and trying to get ripped while still wanting to maintain muscle. If the right precautions are not taken all your hard earned muscle will slowly be eaten away. Some people see it more than others. Supplement wise, I swear by l-glutamine to help me maintain muscle while loosing fat. Also I always aim to keep my protein intake extremely high and even more so when cutting up for a specific job. Slow release protein GRS-5 is extremely effective at dealing with this issue and I always have a shake before bed so Protein is constantly released into my system while asleep. I also use Xedra-Cut MX as my fat burner when I am trying to reduce body fat but keep muscle. At the same time I cut out my carbs after 5. I found doing Cardio 2 times a week combined with my 4 weight lifting sessions enough to still burn fat while keeping muscle. Rather than doing the usual running / cycling that most people opt for, I like to split my time between fast, low weight, lifting sessions with little time to rest between sets and then I finish with the cross trainer.
Question
Hello Daniel, Just a quick question. I have been working on my abs for over 3 months now and am seeing some improvement, but not as much as elsewhere. I do abs 3 times a week almost double of everywhere else and also use Sci-MX Pure Protein. Any suggestions of things I could do or even not do? Thanks
Answer
Hi David, As you have gathered the abs is one of the hardest areas to improve. The key to good abs is low body fat. Even if you train your abs every day but your body fat is high, then you aint gonna see them. Without knowing your exact training program I would simply have to recommend you increasing your low intensity cardio sessions per week, together with the Xedra-Cut MX fat burner and CLA Ultralean. When I am preparing for a job and wanna get that little bit more ripped I will take the above supplements and also adjust my diet by slowly cutting down my carb intake while keeping the protein within my diet at a high level.
Question
Hi, my question is about over-coming that 'plateau'. A year ago I was my 'natural' weight of 81kg. As I'm 6 foot, 2", 81kg leaves me a little too slight. A few months ago I reached 94kg, but since then I haven't been able to lift it any further. I work out 3-4 times a week, doing an alternate programme each session. I eat what I think is a fairly good diet, with good quantities of carbs and protein. What should I be focusing on to get past this 94kg plateau?
Answer
Hi Victor, We all reach that plateau eventually and you definitely sound like you know what you’re doing. I would have to recommend a pro-hormone to you to naturally increase your testosterone levels. 17 Testo-Methox should work a treat for you. With your dedication and right balanced diet, you should see some good quality gains. If you want to go all out Victor, have ZMA and Tribulus Super Strength with it!! These three will kick start your gains again and help you overcome this wall you have hit! Your strength will go up which obviously means you will be able to lift more and as a consequence increase in size. Keep up the good work and I am pretty sure you wont be disappointed with the outcome.
Question
Hi I’m looking to get into fitness modelling. I am 21 and am a fitness instructor and finishing my degree in sport and exercise science. I am currently weighing 60kg with 5.7% bodyfat. Most people think I usually weigh about 70kg but I am short, only 5'7''. Do you have any advice for me to get into fitness modelling and what would be the best way to go about it? thank you.
Answer
Hi there Shyam, You definitely sound like your in great shape!! All I can really say is don’t sit back and wait till you get any older. Get some shots done and a list of some top agencies in your area and contact as many as you can. If you have enough time personally drop into the agencies!! That way they can see you first hand and it shows your determination and dedication. Good luck mate and I am sure it will go well for you!!
Question
Do isotoners work?
Answer
Hi Dave, Personally, I feel they can be very effective. When sodium is absorbed, it takes water along with it and this can help when having a hard work out and you are sweating a great deal and loosing the sodium within your system. Isotonic drinks help to replace what I have lost. They can re-hydrate me more effectively and get me through a work-out when I am not feeling 100%.
