I am very new to training and would like to bulk up but with definition. I looked into supplements but they all say they are the best - help please

Please advise me on supplements. I would like to build lean muscle and lose body fat but I do a lot of cardio to maintain a strong running ability. The cardio and burning fat is great but it’s difficult to build mass and lose the last bit of fat. I’m 47, very fit and have always done a lot of training.

Cardio will loose a lot of body fat but to get really lean you need to reduce your carbohydrate intake. Aim for 20% overall reduction, lowering amount of carbs you eat as the day goes on so that you have very little at night. To build muscle, increase your protein intake by the same 20%. Eat or drink a meal every 2-3 hours. I would suggest Sci-MX Pure Protein GRS-5 between meals, BCAA NanoStack (to be taken directly after training) and Xedra-Cut MX to aid fat loss. You sound fit and athletic - don’t over train though. Your muscles also need rest to grow. Good luck and let me know how you progress.

Bent laterals x 4 sets 20, 15,10 & 8 reps
Side laterals x 3 sets (2 heavy sets but strict.
Seated dumbbell press x 3 sets 15 -8 reps
Remember don’t over train your shoulders, 10 intense sets in total is plenty for delts.

Hi Dave, I have followed your career since you won the NABBA and I am so happy that you are going all the way and that you have teamed up with such a good supplement company. You are the next big thing in international bodybuilding for sure so keep it up. My question is please should I have a protein shake in the middle of the night? Some of the guys at my gym set their alarms for 2 am, have a shake and go back to bed, (these guys are seriously big)

Hey thanks for the kind works mate, They are really appreciated and I am honored that people think so highly of me. As for your question if you are having good nutrition at supper i.e. 6 egg whites 1 yolk plus some cottage cheese and some amino acid capsules then there is no need to disturb your rest. Remember you grow when you rest. If you struggle with late night meals, try Pure Protein GRS-5. GRS stands for gradual release system. Have a serving before going to bed and relax because amino acids will continue to stream into your system for up to 6 hours which is long enough to prevent catabolism during sleep.
